I have a website where users can login at the front-end.
    So not the manager.

Now i would like that these users have the ability to have a little freedom in editing their own profile page.
For now i have only succes with just raw plain text with the use of a (stupid wink ) textarea.

This textarea stores simple text into user-attributes extended items smiley

You would be terrific if you could help me with it smiley

    happy new year

would be using textile-markup be an option?

you can try it here, for example: http://redcloth.org/

you just need the textile-output-filter for converting the textile-markup to html.

I think the Aloha editor may be suitable for font end use.

I don't think it matters, but I haven't implemented it yet myself.

Search the forums for "login aloha" or other similar specific search strings.

I don't quite understand why the content itself is relevant.

Your users are editing profiles. Which editor you use, would be independent from the profile content.

How are you setting up your users?

i have inserted the users in the manager via 'security'->'manage users'
and in the frontend i use the chunk from login called lgnUpdateProfile
it has some raw input fields the user can edit
                      [[!UpdateProfile?
                         &postHooks=`photo,uploadPhoto`
                         &photo_path=`****/profielfotos/pasfoto/`
                         &photo_path_url=`******/profielfotos/pasfoto/`
                         &photo_field=`picture`
                         &photo_filename=`pasfoto-[[!+modx.user.id]]`
                         &customValidators=`fotoValidatie`
                         &validate=`picture:fotoValidatie`
                      ]]
