Articles Package problem

I downloaded the Articles package and I am attemting to teach myself how to use it. The documentation is very poor for us beginners BTW. I created a blog page and leaving the defaults in place, was able to "view" my basic page right away. As I began working thru the RFTM lessons I was soon no longer able to "view" my blog page. I get the "Page Not Found" page. I changed very little, only the names of the sample elements to my copies. I even reinstalled the package and started over with a new blog page. The fresh install with a new unchanged blog page does not show. I cleared the cache and put the system settings back (aarticles.default_article_template etc) and it just won't show. Any idea what to do?

Did you check your error log, there must be some error logged in ? (You can find it at core/cache/logs/error.log, you have cleared cache so it might not be there, run the page again and it will get created again.)

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately (for my own education) I restored to a previous day before I made whatever mistake it was that I made. It is working again so no error messages. If you know of any tutorials that give a little higher level vue of "Articles" please direct me to it. RTFM assumes I know why I would be doing the things it shows how to do. I don't want to use their template and it does not suggest how to incorporate it into my own. It just says that you can. Oh well, I will work thru it. Thanks again.

Could you possibly explain the concept of the "Container Template" and the "Article" template. How do they relate to each other and why would I use one or the other or both?

The "container template" is for the parent resource. This would be the page displayed as the main "blog" or "news" page, and has the list of articles or posts on it. This resource is shown in the Tree on the left side of the manager.

The "article template" is for the individual child articles/posts, and will by default have Quip activated. These are reached from the links on the main, parent page; these resources are not shown in the Tree on the left side of the manager.

The individual article/post resources are automatically set to not show in the menu, so if you want to display links to them using Wayfinder or getResources in your own templates, you have to set the showHidden properties of Wayfinder or getResources to `1`.

I was wondering if someone could explain something to me that is not very clear in the rtfm.
Here is what it says to do.

Go ahead and duplicate the two templates, "sample.ArticlesContainerTemplate" and "sample.ArticlesTemplate". From there, rename them to whatever you want. We'll call ours "BlogTemplate" and "BlogPostTemplate", respectively.

If you don't duplicate the sample Templates, and edit them directly, when you upgrade Articles, your changes will be erased!
Then, go into System Settings and find the following settings and change them:

"articles.default_container_template" - Change this to our BlogTemplate
"articles.default_article_template" - Change this to our BlogPostTemplate
This sets the default Template for Containers and Articles as you create them.

This is very unclear because I can not tell how to correctly change them.
They do not refer to the provided templates in the first place. Notice it says:
"articles.default_container_template" not "articles.ArticlesContainerTemplate"
"articles.default_article_template" not "articles.ArticlesTemplate"

So is it referring to these templates in the first place? Changing them to
"articles.BlogTemplate" does not seem to work. Just how are these settings changed?
Also, Do they need to be changed if I do not use the default?
