    Hi,

    Is there an Add-on available that enables me to copy wwwroot of a MODX 2.2.0 installation?

    In the process of moving a site to another server - have Janitor installed and backed up DB.
    Now need a handy tool to copy the rest of the files - unfortunatly I do not have FTP access (or SSH...)

    Thx

    Peter

      Do you have cPanel access? If so, you should be able to "compress" all the files into a .zip file and then download that file. If not, you should definitely consider changing hosts.

        Most servers will have some kind of backup utility as well, especially if they don't allow ftp. If the file manager doesn't allow you to compress and download, look for a backup option in the control panel.

          Hi,

          Thanks for replying - no there is no cPanel - it is a 'hostile' take over kind'a situation where the former webmaster is being a jerk.
          I have done this before dor a WordPress site - which has some AddOns to do exectly that...
          Anyway I managed to get things I need copied over file-by-file ...

          So problem went away.

          Happy 2013

            Glad you got it sorted! Just to provide some further ideas for people in the future with a similar problem...

            Depending on the server configuration (if it's on shared hosting, it's a very long shot...) you could run some shell commands via PHP to zip it up, and then just download the single file.

            You do seem to have manager access, and access to the file tree there, so you could plant a php file with contents like this..

            <?php
            `tar -cvzf wwwdata.tar.gz wwwdata/`;

            or..
            <?php
            shell_exec('tar -cvzf archive_name.tar.gz dirname/');

            or..
            <?php
            system('tar -cvzf archive_name.tar.gz dirname/');

            If you just need to download the content and assets there's also some scrapers online that'll do that for you too (I can't seem to find my bookmark on this...).

              If the PHP doesn't have its zip library included, you can upload a zip class, then upload BkupMODx, which can work stand-alone and uses its own zip class. Upload a script to unzip the BkupMODx archive. Configure BkupMODx to use your Revo database. Since this app has its own config.inc.php file I usually set an .htaccess directive to deny access so it can't be read from a URL.
