Problem with package manager

Hi,

I can't install any packages this morning (revo 2.2.6) - I get this message:

An error occurred while connecting to the Provider: MODX received a blank response from the provider. Please double check your service URL and make sure the provider is a valid provider.

My service URL is set to http://rest.modx.com/extras/ is this correct?

the host is saying it is due to the temporary domain, does this make sense?

Should be the correct URL. What does the host mean with temporary domain?

I am developing my site on the ip address, before we switch over to the actual domain

e.g http://11.22.333.44/~mysite/

Oh, well, that should not be the problem. In the end a domainname is just an ip-adress with a pretty mask on.
Besides, your making a connection outside, that would have absolutely nothing to do with were your site is at unless that server is blocking the modx resources.

We develop all our sites like that and have no problems accessing the package manager.
