I'm really excited about using MODX to build my first serious website. For me It was a choice between XOOPS or MODX. I chose MODX because I can see a real future for this CMS and the community seems amazing, not to mention these beautifully designed forums. I am just stuck between choosing Revo or Evo. What is the difference? Do they have different uses? As someone who has never used MODX before this is a critical decision for me to make. Please help!

Evolution is not in active development from the MODX Team. Revolution is however, and there are some very practical and useful improvements over Evo that you'll likely want to take advantage of.
Revolution is really quite fabulous.
That's a can of worms opened right there! Just speaking from my own experience, I'd recommend Revo which is the latest iteration of MODX. There are valid reservations regarding the speed of the manager's user interface but it's light years ahead in every other respect.
AFAIK Evo has reached it's last major release while Revo will continue to be developed for the foreseeable future and form the basis of MODX 3. So in a sense you're future proofing your development and using the latest tools from the MODX team too.
Just my 2 cents as a fan too.

Good luck with it. Post a URL up when you're all done?
