Is it possible to have an active state selected by default? I've checked the system settings for that but couldn't find it. Any suggestions?

What do you mean by "active state"?
Hi sottwell.
If you want to create album there is an tick box "Active - If unchecked, this album will not be viewable." I've attached a screen shot.
