    Hey guys,

I am having issues with some template when I past the following html into the content area I try to save and get an never ending saving message. Can someone else please try and save the following html into an area and see if they get the same thing. I know the html is messy but its getting pasted in from Campaign Monitor.

Any help would be appreciated this is driving me crazy.

I am currently on version 2.2.6

<p style="color: #333; margin-bottom: 15px;">I have a love affair going on with the wines of Bandol. I don’t discriminate, I love all of the Kermit Lynch Bandols and get giddy when they arrive. My Bandol collection might rival some women’s shoe collections, if I had to take stock (but won’t, lest Jeff get hip to this).</p>
<p style="color: #333; margin-bottom: 15px;">Of all the Bandols Kermit represents, Terrebrune is perhaps the most polished and the first to mature, but that's because it is the least tannic, and that by no means indicates a wine that can't age. To the contrary, it may well be the one that ages the longest because of its balance.</p>
<p style="color: #333; margin-bottom: 15px;">My love of Bandol is shared by Bruce Neyers, National Sales Manger for Kermit Lynch, who has inspired my thirst with his commentary on Terrebrune:</p>
<p style="color: #333; margin-bottom: 15px;">“I love our visits to Domaine Terrebrune. There is obviously something about the wines of Bandol that agrees with me as I find myself opening a bottle of one every week, or more. As fond as I am for the Bandol from Domaine Tempier, however, we get very little of it, so I always feel a bit guilty taking any home. That means less for our clients. Domaine Terrebrune got me over that problem, though, and faster than a therapist.</p>
<p style="color: #333; margin-bottom: 15px;">Their vines are grown in the rocky, dark brown (Terra Brune) soil of Ollioules, several miles closer to the Mediterranean than Tempier, so the climate is slightly moderated by the sea breeze. The wines are similar in style, however, and easily mistaken for one another. Much of that has to do with the fact that the late Lucien Peyraud, founder of Tempier, actually oversaw the development of Terrebrune's vineyards.</p>
<p style="color: #333; margin-bottom: 15px;">Reynald Delille is the guiding light behind Domaine Terrebrune and he offers the latest wines from this unique terroir. A small, attractive restaurant is part of the domaine as well so they maintain an extensive collection of older bottlings for their dining customers to enjoy.”</p>

I have run into this issue many times before and it always ended up being ModSecurity preventing it from saving. You may need to get in touch with your host to see if that is the case and if they can help fix it.

I have test your HTML code in my 2.2.6 test installation of MODX and it saves correctly.. So think you should use your browser inspector (F12 I guess?) to see what the ajax processor tells you, maybe you get an error somehow, so investigate ;-)

I have attached my error within and I am getting a 403 error what exactly would I ask them because my hosting blames it on modx and does not help me with development

I can't say for certain that is what is causing the issue, just noting that I have had a simliar issues in past and that turned out to be the culprit. In my scenario, I would ask the host if they were running ModSecurity and if it could be blocking any of the manager files. I would also provide my IP address to them so they could find it in the logs. With that information they would respond that they whitelist the rule for the affected files and the issue would be fixed.

This could be a different issue but thought it might be a helpful thing to check on since the symptoms sound very simliar. Hopefully that helps you track down the issue.

Hi I appreciate your response. I don't understand how this could start happening because at one time I could save these files. If I remove the above copy from the page it saves fine... its a very hard thing to debug and my client is getting very upset that he cant save pages.

Again I appreciate your help .. Happy Holidays smiley

Hosts often make updates and changes to PHP versions, mod_security or suhosin settings, and other things that break sites with no warning. There is probably some word or HTML structure that has been added to a security setting. For example, there are some nasty site injection exploits that use iframes, so some are preventing iframes from being allowed in the POST.

Any decent hosting company will whitelist the /manager/index.php file from their security settings if you ask them to.

Thanks for the Reply would that be the only file I should actually whitelist... my hosting is asking for a list.

I actually have tracked down the line of code which is causing the infinite loop.

                    <hr style="margin-bottom: 10px; margin-top: -10px; border-width: 0; color: #ccc; background-color: #ccc; height: 1px; width: 100%; text-align: left; padding: 0px;" />

Totally random why that should cause Modx to goo into a repeating loop.

Interesting. A look at the logs would tell you exactly what word or phrase is causing the security check to fail.

Anyway, the /manager/index.php file is probably the only one you need to have whitelisted, unless you will be doing front-end resource editing such as NewsPublisher. There are really only two .php files that are run directly, the root index.php for front-end pages, and /manager/index.php for Manager work. All the rest of MODx's files are included, not run independently.
