Yet another reason to despise IE

I know, I know, you're not supposed to ascribe to malice what can be ascribed to stupidity, but one does have to wonder sometimes.

Is this in the right subject room ? Anyway, if MicroSoft really wanted they could align the IE code with FF and Chrome and make an end to all the web incompatability. But they don't and so there must be a (hidden) reason for it. Maybe they still think they are somehow "special".

There was actually a real discussion about dropping the trident engine (webkit equivalent in IE) in favor of lynx http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynx_(web_browser) as can be read here: http://www.sitepoint.com/microsoft-drop-trident-from-internet-explorer/

but somehow (and I couldn't find information about why) they didn't and IE10 is still based on trident (v6.0 according to wikipedia).

I presume that you did notice the date on that article? April 1, 2010? And that you are aware of just what the Lynx browser is?

1. yes, I'm aware that the article is from 2010, but I couldn't find something about why this wasn't done
2. i hope so, lynx is a text-based browser / command line browser...not sure why it was discussed in the article (as an alternative to webkit...), so I just pulled this out there

i think you are looking at the wrong part of the date!
