I want to create several private password protected pages for visitors (clients - not backend users) to my site.
I understand about creating Access and Resource Groups and assigning ModX users to that group - but there are a couple of things I do not understand:
1. How do you set up a login page to access the secure resources? Is this a snippet I will have to code myself?
2. If I set up a user group for my clients and distribute usernames and passwords, will they be able to login to the back end of ModX (/manager) like an admin does?
3. Is is better to just use a plugin like DocPassword that just makes pages password protected (no usernames)?
Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!
(Running Revo 2.1.3)
1. Use the "Login" package; install it with the Package Manager.
2. No. MODx works with "contexts", and the back-end is the "mgr" context and the default front-end is the "web" context. Just don't give your user group "mgr" context access. See
http://rtfm.modx.com/display/ADDON/Login.Basic+Setup and

3. Whatever you prefer. This is MODx! There is always more than one way to do things.
PageLocker is another option. Personally, I would recommend setting up the user group/resource group configuration.

Ah thanks Susan! Exactly what I need
About question 1;
Use Resource Groups to secure your pages. Create a group, bind it to your "Members" usergroup with the right context-access permissions. Then use Login (as Susan said) to let members login the front-end and they will get access to that pages
