sounds like your MODx upload did not complete properly or is corrupt, have you tried re uploading all the files again? and also verifying that the missing directories exist?

Oh! seems that you have just uploaded the install folder to your server? and you missed some file/folder as awardle said, there should be "assets, manager, install, index.php, index-ajax.php, ht.access" files/folders with the right permissions for particular files that the installer have mentioned.

          Hi all,

          Thanks for replying but :

All files and folders(manager, asset, install, ht.access, index.php and index-ajax.php) have been uploaded successfully to the server.

          Directory permissions 777 for : assets/cache/ + assets/export/ & assets/images/

          File permission 666 for assets/cache/siteCache.idx.php + assets/cache/sitePublishing.idx.php & manager/includes/config.inc.php

It is the 3rd time i am uploading the files, still having the same errors, any Idea, The permissions are set properly as explained in the Readme file.

          Any idea or advice ?

This error only occurs when there is some files/folders missed to be at MODx tree!
Try to upload files in binary mode with FTP client/program! (if you are using Firefox, FireFTP add-on is worth to try!)
Check the files size and if they are all = 0 , try to upload some image file in ../assets/images/ folder and try to browse it, ie: www.yoursite.com/modx/assets/images/yourimage.jpg ,if the image shows up then, there might be something wrong with your FTP.
Maybe someone else could give some other tips?.

If you are able to use SSH it’s worth uploading the compressed archive and decompressing on the server. At least that way you can pretty much rule out data loss from flaky FTP clients.

I had this same problem on a remote server, I downloaded the installation, and compared it with the original extracted local installation with KDiff. The FTP program I was using did not copy the files that were empty. So I had to check an option to copy empty files across. This is most likely the cause of my problem, as now it works fine, hope this helps.

Are you perhaps running SuExec or something similar on your server? If so, then you need to set different permissions from the standard ones used when PHP is running as "nobody" (usually with SuExec you set the files and directories that you need to write to 755 and executable files to 644). If you’re not sure, ask your host because you may also need to use a php.ini file to turn register_globals to Off.
