Installation problem, cannot connect to localhost at installation

    Hi,

    I’ve tried through both xamp and wamp but i cant get through the installation process. When i try to test the connection i just get: "Connection to host: failed!"
    I’ve turned off all the firewall protection... Earlier i’ve managed to install joomla at least...

    Any ideas???

    Any help very appreciated,

      Some kind of indication of environment, PHP/MySQL versions etc. might help us help you...

        WAMP + Vista + MODx = works for me.

        Sounds like an Apache problem.

          oh, sorry..

          PHP Version 5.2.3
          MySQL server version(?): 5.0.45-community-nt

          Running this on Vista and XAMP
