Subject: let me introduce my Extra - phpTemplates http://modx.com/extras/package/phptemplates.
This package allow use pure php-code in static MODX-templates. This helpfull for use tmplates system (like Smarty).

This package helps me create my fastest Revo-site, demonstrates 0.0489s. page generation time.

Try it yourself.
This site is pure MODX Revolution 2.2.5: http://test.yley.msk0.ru/
This site is copy of original, but on MODX+phpTemplates+Smarty: http://yley.msk0.ru/
Generation time writes below main menu.

Average time for pure MODX - 0.075-0.08s.
Average time for MODX+phpTemplates - 0.053-0.057s.

By reason this is not traditional solution, I invite to discussion here.

Thanks for sharing this amongst all Nick, I will share what I am working on using this code later on for all to see.
