The default Articles URL Format setting is:
    %Y/%m/%d/%alias/

    This produces URLs like:

    http://www.mydomain.com/articles/2012/12/06/title-of-an-article/

Wouldn't it be more semantic to have URLs ending with .html ?
Ending an URL to / suggests that this should be a container.

I think the default setting should be:
    %Y/%m/%d/%alias.%ext

How do you think about this?

It is not strictly a matter of semantic, but of style. There are those who argue that putting extensions is childish; meaningless information to the user, blah blah blah.

Others say,.html gives the impression of an unhackable static site, unlike .php which tells the whole world what language you are using, and more blah blah blah.

The search engine does just fine with either; gone are the days URLs had to be like the structure we see in the address bar of windows explorer, folders with slash and files with so on. Almost every URL today is dynamically produced and basically fake..

Harden your MODX site by passwording your three main folders: core, manager, connectors and renaming your assets (thank me later!)
5 ways to sniff / hack your own sites; even with renamed/hidden folders, burst them all up, to see how secure you are not.
