I found Modx through The Coding Pad:
http://codingpad.maryspad.com/2010/08/18/modx-revolution-for-beginners-part-1-introduction/
Mary quite rightly states: "MODx is an extremely flexible and powerful content management framework that is capable of producing amazing results."
The steps provided were exactly what I needed to get the site I was developing completely up and running.
I'd previously dabbled in static web design and wanted a way to take the labour out of reproducing content, duplicate stuff that appears on each page that is likely to change regularly, such as headers/footers etc so I thought there must be an easier way than editing each page.
When I came into a bigger project where I needed to be able to aggrigate content from other pages I knew I needed something else..... a CMS, as I discovered. I did my research on Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla etc but finding Mary's pages took me step by step through almost everything I needed for ModX and I was sold.
I've implemented many of the great packages from the excellent contributors, such as Newspublisher, GetResources, Login, FormIt, AdvSearch, Wayfinder, TinyMCE and more....
I think I started on 2.1.3, so Revo had been around for a year or so, but I'm learning new stuff each day and there are soooo many things I don't know how to do and still want to achieve. I'm glad that I've found ModX, this community and the kind support that it offers.
