My client's website host (Bluehost - I know, I know) recently upgraded their hosting package from the basic plan to the pro plan. As part of this, the site was moved from one server to another. The site and manager are functioning mostly as before the move. The one problem I am noting is that many of the small icons associated with the manager in MODX are now missing. The major stumbling block is that the icons (and their functionality) in the Site Tree are gone. I thought initially that this was a template issue, but all of the pertinent files are there, and the template is set to "default".

Any thoughts from anyone as to why this would be the case?

      I would try:

      1. Clearing the cache in the manager
      2. removing all files in /core/cache/
      3. running setup again

Thanks saschame - I've tried 1 and 2. Will give 3 a shot in conjunction with them.

No luck. I did the process in this order (and even added a step):

          1. Cleared browser cache
          2. Cleared the Manager cache
          3. Deleted all files from /core/cache/
          4. Re-ran Setup

Still no luck getting the icons back.

Can you check file/folder permissions on that host?
Last time I had trouble like that, the provider messed up a whole lot of permissions.

Also, can you mirror the site and run it locally? That way, you could check, if the problem is on the new host or with your MODX install itself.

Thanks again - permissions were where my mind went initially. I've since checked multiple directories that contain files for the manager. The permissions are all as they were before the move (most are 755). My next suspicion is the /core/config/config.inc.php file has retained some of the settings from the site before it was moved. Will update after I confirm/rule that out.

That's a big negative for the config.inc.php file as well. All settings in there were correct. Totally stumped on this one. It's not really keeping me from working, but it takes the manager and severely handicaps it. Any further thoughts from anyone?

I know this is a basic one but have you checked the System Settings for Back End Manager?

Boomerang - not sure what setting in Back End Manager would have an affect on this. The theme for the manager is set to "default" and the directory that contains this theme's files is in the correct place and has all the right permissions.

                      ----- UPDATE -----

I had a thought when reflecting on Boomerang's suggestion and tried switching to a custom manager theme. Interestingly, the same icons that are missing with the default theme are missing with the custom theme (Trendy by lossendae). This leads me to believe that this may still be a permissions or settings issue - just not one associated with the manager theme. Will update after more investigation. Anyone comes up with anything in the meantime, I'll be a happy panda. [ed. note: designcouch last edited this post 13 years, 9 months ago.]
