I’ve recently discovered ModX and be really impressed by the tool it provides (I wonder how 1.0 will be!!).
Altought i cannot figure out the ease of use to realise few things yet .. is it a matter of time or is it out of range according to the core conception (dont even talk about my capacity-to)
II’m looking for an upload/dowload solution where each user would have access to their own files only. Permission’s gestion is always an heavy thread and i thought first that i had to look around plone, typo, ... i probably miss many CMS, but i finally dig a bit around ModX and i think that could be performed (or it’s already done, my knowledge in English dont really let me understand possibilities with FileDownLoad, FileUpLoad, etc.)
To be more clear, it would be really nice if someone could say if yes or no my requirements meet modX as i need features not basicly implemented but may be not that far :
I have some users,
redactors and i want them to write/read/edit (not publish) articles, but only their own creation, they wont read each other article before approval. That could be settled by giving privilege to a group per user and setting a tree branch permission for each one. There’s probably a more elegant way with appropriate snippet (but i’m too noob for that) to check documentAuthor = documentDisplayUser., yep that’s not the syntax but just the idea. ; ) An
editors group will have access to everything and publish them or not.
Then, and that’s what i cannot figure at all actually, those
redactors may upload some files as well in their articles, .doc .pdf for being downloaded by
editors or pictures .jpg .bmp, that will be thumbdisplayed in their articles. Is there a way to have an upload or image selection that wont show up others content nor allowed its download ? My knowledge in English dont really let me figures out if FileDownLoad, FileUpload (or another) have thoses ability. Nor if the dev. of this is easy, ok, rough, amazing, arrrggg!
