My site has two different Articles sections. Currently "News" shows the comments form only when the user has logged in, whilst "BG" shows the comments form regardless of whether the user is logged in or out. Both article templates call the comments in the same way, as shown below:

                    [[+comments]]

Add a Comment

                      [[+comments_form]]

The article templates have some differences in layout, but no differences in functionality.

So, when logged in, the comments form is visible for both News and BG sections; when logged out the comments form remains visible on BG - it should not be visible on either when logged out.

I note that when testing in Firefox (my development browser) the "logged out user" is given as Default Admin User and can post as such. If I try the same thing in IE the "logged out user" is blank and can fill in the comments form, but no post can be made. However the form is still visible.

I have read the forums and documentation extensively and am getting nowhere with this inconsistent behaviour. Anyone able to offer suggestions? Thanks!

    I am using:

    MODX Revolution 2.2.2-pl (traditional)
    Articles 1.6.3

It seems that I always end up replying to my own posts sad

The error was caused by inconsistent settings in the Comments settings of the Advanced Settings section of each Articles container resource.

Settings such as Require Authentication To Comment: YES on one, NO on the other.

Sort all these Comments settings out and job done.
