TinyMCE - only game in town ?

I've a couple of TinyMCE questions.

1. Can anyone recommend an alternative ? I seem to struggle adding HTML (embedded youtube video's for example). A search doesn't turn up much recent discussion on the subject.

2. Is there anything to watch for upgrading versions ? Presumably I unzip and upload over the old version before running the install script ?
I'm on revolution 1.06 / TinyMCE Version 3.3.9.2 (2010-09-29)

Yes and no =),

first of all, revolution 1.06 doesn't exist, so you're talking probably about evolution?

but I have only two evo sites left in my portfolio and I did never use something else there...so I cannot tell you if your (very specific) problems could be solved with these alternatives.

Yes it is evolution I'm running. I'm getting the feeling that perhaps I should move things over to revolution given I'm pretty much at the start of development on this site.

One of the problems I'm finding on the forum is that the search is turning up very old posts which I assume may not be as relevant with the assorted updates.

The other thing is that the versions of things in the repository are older than those shipped with the modx download.

If you start developing a new site I would definitely go with revo, my old evo installtions are just "living" their lifes to an end where they are then ported to revo, so I didn't install evo for about 1.5-2 years =), based on that I cannot tell you about the versions shipped with revo and the ones in the repository...
