Do you mean modifying core files? This is no option for us as we'd like to release the GoodNews newsletter plugin as a MODx extra for the public.

Thanks bruno, but as far as I understand this wouldn't change anything as I still would have the problem that I read values from a custom table and write some values of it to the extended user fields. It would only change the rendering of the interface.
Create a new plugin, and select these events: onUserFormPrerender and onUserFormSave and paste the content of plugin.php.txt in the plugin...
Create a new file in /assets/myscript.js and paste the content of myscript.js.txt
Go edit a user and you'll see what you see in the attachment...I trust you can work with this ;-)
Please use this myscript.js.txt ;-)
