Hi,
Days have gone by and I'm still waiting for Discuss to be released. Currently, I'm struggling with MyBB (Login/Logout/Register) working, however MyBB is not what I was looking for because of the time it takes to fully integrate a forum software within another.
With Discuss, my projects will become true and I would no longer need to worry about security between two different platforms.
At least could you please release a Alpha version of it?

The last I heard they were still cleaning up the code and making it more manageable for non developers. In the mean time I would suggest checking into
http://sottwell.com/article-vanilla.html if you need something now. I wouldn't expect a Discuss release until at least Q1 '13, but then again that's just a guess...

I have a new article for Vanilla on Revo here
http://sottwell.sottwell.modxcloud.com/article-vanilla/
I like Vanilla. It is very basic by itself, but it has a ton of plugins that are fairly easy to install and configure.
I'm currently posting on a forum powered by Discuss, so far as I've been using this forum I haven't experienced any bugs. Are you holding the release until all bugs are fixed to ensure no culprit explores the source and exploits this forum because it's powered bv Discuss?
But seriously why is a alpha release not current? Discuss would be finished faster if it were available to the public as more people are using it and bugs are discovered sooner.

The problem is support. If MODx releases an extra, they get flooded with support requests (demands, more like it) for everything everybody wants to do differently, or didn't set up properly, or their server/PHP/MySQL configuration causes problems. MODx simply cannot take on that kind of load for something as big as a forum application. After all, the major forum applications have whole teams of developers dedicated to just that one product.

At the MODXpo Ryan mentioned "this year", so hopefully it'll be soon now.

bowkilled,
We're still working on Discuss but the version being used on the MODX Forums had significant customizations. In the process of the relaunch of the current forums which included the resolution of dozens of bugs, major refactors and further simplification of the templating system and much more. It's pretty close to a release but we are not yet prepared to announce a launch day but "this year" is our hope.
