Answered Show Articles in tree

    Hi i'm using the articles plugin, is there a way to show articles in the tree below the cute coffe cup icon?

      If you go into the database, you'll find in the entry in the site_content table for Articles container, a setting "hide_children_in_tree". I think if you set that to 0 instead of 1 then the children will show.

        tried that didn't worked out for me.

          Hm. Then each of the children must have their "show_in_tree" set to 0 when they are created. There isn't much you can do about it, unless you dig through the Articles code and change it. You'd do better to not use Articles at all in that case.

            Hey juanitomint, there is an extra called "Resource Hider", which implements a nice little button on the left side of the save-button in the manager.
            With that you can easily show and hide child-resources. But it seems, that it actually just works with normal resources, but not with the articles-container..
            Perhaps the author of the extra can add that feature..

              Part of the point of developing the Articles extra was so that those particular Resources, blog posts, did not show up in the tree. This is because typically, you might have hundreds or thousands of Resources in a single Blog Container and navigating those in the tree is awkward and in some cases, may not even render depending on the number of Resources in a single Container and your hosting environment.

              You can approximate blogs in MODX without using Articles. It takes a little more setup work, but is certainly an option if you prefer to manage Resources in the tree.

                MIGxDB is a good alternative that gives you much more flexibility than trying to meddle with Articles core code. http://rtfm.modx.com/display/ADDON/MIGXdb.Manage+Child-Resources+in+a+grid-TV+with+help+of+MIGXdb

                  Ok got it, may be articles is not the way to go with what I'm trying to do.
