Searchable File Downloads

We are in the process of converting our sites from Evo to Revo. Many of our sites use the FileDownload snippet to output a list of downloadable files. It works very well because of its simplicity and ability for non-technical users to manage downloads.

A major downside to FileDownload for us, is that the files are not searchable via AjaxSearch. I would love to find a download/file lister plugin or snippet that would also provide results that were searchable via the native search function for visitors.

Have you found a solution for this type of application/need?

Searching files is a completely different matter. Depending on the type of file being downloaded, it may require an application being installed on the server to convert the file to a type that can be searched.

It is possible to use some of the embeddable search engines to search files.

With Revo, you can use static resources for your files with full access to all of the usual resource fields to search (except a content field), including TVs that can be used for tagging.
