Migrating resources /site content

Howdy,

I have a client site on server A (revo 2.2.0) as well have another version of the site on server B (revo 2.2.5). We did this basically to fix a bunch of stuff. While we were working away on server B, our client continued to update their content on server A. My question is, is it possible to export only the resources from the database on server A and import into server B? If so which tables would be required, other than modx_site_content? Or is this a bad idea due to modx versions being different? Thanks

There are too many possible variables to be able to answer this. If your development made use of any of the new site_content fields, then you cannot import the old site_content table since it will destroy the new fields.

If your new site_content table has new resources (Articles, for example) then you can't import new resources from the old site, since the resource IDs will be out of sync.

You might be able to use a custom script to insert the relevant fields of new resources from the old database, but they would probably not have the correct IDs in the case of any use of those IDs for internal links or "parent" and "start" IDs for listing snippets and the like.

Thanks Susan...for arguments sake, lets say if all things WERE equal, which tables would be required? I tried doing just site_content table and for the most part it worked, so I figured more than just this table is necessary when moving resources. Thanks again

If there are TVs involved, then you would also need the site_tmplvar_contentvalues table; the problem here is that the resource IDs must also match since this table matches TV ID to resource ID for the content of the TV for the given resource.

I compared TV resource ID's and they match between servers. This all started with me duplicating the site from server A to server B. Most resources ID's match from server to server, except for those ones my client added/edited/deleted. Im trying to find a reasonably efficient way of updating the content that is out of date on 'server B'. I'll be backing up the database before any of this so I can revert if things dont exactly go well. I'll be updating content manually if this just doesnt work out
