Look for create new settings

Hi all,
I'm looking for a module who's help create and editing new settings in modx evolution.
For example, i need to assign a logo for the website, and display many time on different pages.
Have somebody a suggestion, idea or existing module for doing this ?

There are a couple of options available without needing a custom module to do this:

• Chunks: These are great for common HTML code that needs to be displayed across multiple pages. You would only need to update the logo in one location to have it updated across all your pages where the chunk is used.
• Template Variables: These are custom fields that are assigned to templates and would be used, for example, to have a default logo but gives you the option of overriding it for certain pages.

What I usually do is create a TV called logo (image).
Assign it to the Template your homepage is in.
Place it into all templates like

Now you need to show that TV only in the homepage, you need to go to the chunk mm_demo_rules

At the bottom add:



What you do is you hide that TV field on all pages except ID 1 (homepage)

Or you can add your logo into the map /assets/images/logo/logo.png and change that file?

Actually your ideas is not working in my case. Let me explain:
Logo is just an exemple, it could be the owner adresse website

Using a Chunk for this is not possible, maybe i need to resize logo with phx:phpthumb, or use the address with ggmap or something else ...

And template Variable available on all page and hidden except on page id 1 is dangerous because if var tv is changed ( like the logo ) It won't change it on every page, but only the 1.

That's why i'm talking about setting, this is the only way to assign easily a var accessible to every pages.

I have site-wide variables on the home page template, which is only assigned to the home page. Then just use GetField in your other templates.

Alternatively you could use the System settings events to add fields to the page in the manager that is used to edit the settings. You need to be happy with PHP, writing modx plugins and also be happy with doing some minor reverse engineering of the relevant manager page so you know what HTML to output from your plugin. You also need to be prepared to update this plugin should the markup in the core of that manager page ever change.
