    Hi,

This has been bugging me for a little while now, so I thought I’d write in and see if anyone else suffers with it - I have searched through the Forums and FlySpray and can’t find much relating to it.

I have one user which is used for the content management, and the administrator user for everything else.
The content user is in a role called "Content Editor".

However, when this user goes to edit a document, they don’t see the "Content type" and "Content disposition" settings. However the Administrator user can login and change them.

Which permission does the role need to be able to change the Content type and disposition?

My content editor role has the following permissions:

    All of "General"
    All of "Content Management"
    All of "Template Management"
    All of "Snippet Management"
    All of "Chunk Management"
    NONE of "Plugin Management"
    "Run Module"
    NONE of "Event Log Management"
    NONE of "User/Webuser Management"
    NONE of "Permissions Management"
    NONE of "Roles Management"
    "Use the File Manager"
    "Manage META tags and keywords"
    "Import HTML"
    "Export static HTML"

Also another quick note: I’ve created a couple of custom content types and assigned a document to use them, but I don’t get an icon in the document tree, I’m used to clicking the icon to get the context menu, so it’s a bit annoying!

    Thanks,

    Andy

      Responding to myself laugh

The missing image for a custom content type is in fact caused by a missing image!
According to the wondrous Web Developer Toolbar, it is: manager/media/style/MODx/images/tree/page.gif (404 error.)

This is on the MODx template btw. I’ll post in the 0.9.6 support issues.

      Thankee.

The current permission system is not always easy to grasp, and you can’t have a totally granular control over permissions... you can get good insight about how everything works reading manager/actions/mutate_content.dynamic.php.

You’ll see that both item you need can only be accessed by the admin, from line 771 to line 808, let me just show the first lines :

           <?php if($_SESSION['mgrRole']==1) { ?>
                      <tr style="height: 24px;">
                        <td><span class='warning'><?php echo $_lang['page_data_contentType']; ?></span></td>

        (...)

        ?>

If you want to achieve what you need, I am afraid you’ll have to tweak the code, e.g check the ID for the Content Editor role in phpMyAdmin, in the modx_user_roles table.

Then if the role’s ID is say, 4, edit [tt]if($_SESSION[’mgrRole’]==1[/tt] and replace it with [tt]if($_SESSION[’mgrRole’]==1 || $_SESSION[’mgrRole’]==4 [/tt] in mutate_content.dynamic.php

Edit : I wondered why you needed editors to change content-type or content-disposition... it seems you don’t anymore, maybe it will help someone !

Thanks, David, I’ll check the code out and tweak it as necessary.

The content editors are authoring XML documents and RSS feeds, so when they create one, they want to be able to set it’s content type accordingly. Content-disposition is not a problem, I just noticed it was the same situation with it as Content-type!
