TV default value returned when accessing from a template that doesn't have it assigned

Well, after learning about this behavior, I'm simply trying to understand how to either use it, or prevent it. Partly for you, but mostly for me because I'm fairly certain it'll kick me in the azz someday when I least expect it.

Well I guess one useful example could be if I have a TV like the GoogleMapTV, which has a great custom output. I could put my office's address in its default value. I could put that TV in a chunk common to a few different templates, like a footer or something, and the output would be rendered without me having to explicitly assign that TV to all of the templates I use.

I agree that more than likely this is just going to be a strange surprise one day, as it was for me! My current project is way more complex that the simple example given, and it took a bit of head scratching to work out how the value was appearing where it was!
