    Hi Guys,
    I am new here in MODx .. While installing MODx Revo 2.2.4 I got this error:

    MODX has found safe_mode to be on. You must disable safe_mode in your PHP configuration to proceed.

    I contact the server support to turn the safe_mode = OFF . The Tech Support said safe "mode is already off, i have cross checked it"

    I am in trouble now How do i proceed installation ..? Any Suggestion.

    Thanks
    In Advance..

      Delete all the files in the core/cache folder and try again. Also, check in the "reports->system info" menu, "php info" to verify safe mode is off.

      You'll also want to check all these php settings:

      http://rtfm.modx.com/display/revolution20/Server+Requirements

      mod_rewrite (for friendly URLs/.htaccess)
      GD lib (required for captcha and file browser)

      ImageMagick (for thumbnails)

      safe_mode off

      magic_quotes_gpc off

        It may be that the setup folder needs a custom php.ini file to turn off safe mode. There may already be one in the root, but that won't work for the setup or the manager folder.

          @frogabog Cpanel--> PHP config shown safe_mode = off , I deleted cache but no success.. Thanks any for your suggestion.

          @sottwell I tried php.ini in setup folder .. MODx asked to set timezone. I set timezone but i got another error:
          MODX requires the PDO extension when native PDO is being used and it does not appear to be loaded.

          I check phpinfo(). PDO is enabled and requirements are passed..
          I have once installed MODx successfully the same server..

          Installation error snapshot attached.
          Any other suggestion..

            You may have to apply some kind of recursive script in .htaccess at the MODX install directory. (my host does this)

            Example:
            <IfModule mod_suphp.c>
            	suPHP_ConfigPath /home/username/php.ini
            	<Files php.ini>
            		order allow,deny
            		deny from all
            	</Files>
            </IfModule>

            Also, because I upgraded php I have to include this in my .htaccess. Prior to adding the following, my php.ini had settings that were correct, php.info said they were correct, but I got errors that said they weren't.

            # Use PHP 5.3
            AddType application/x-httpd-php53 .php

            My point would be that somehow there's a conflict between php.ini and what settings are actually being used (not that the above code will solve your problem, they are just examples of things I've had to change). PHP documentation at your host might clue you in as to why.
