Hi
I have been designing and developing websites using modx for the past year and half. Have some set-ups on top of Revolution 2.1.3 all the way to the latest version.
I have been hosting all of these sites with the same hosting company under the same environment, but about two weeks ago, we had our account suspended due to excessive CPU usage. We spotted the problem to be as as result of a few of the new modx installations.
We tested the new and old installations and gone through forum posts, but still unclear why the newer versions are using so much of the CPU power.
For example, simply logging in to the manager on the old setup, could use about 30% of CPU resources, where the new version uses all the day to 100% at times.
I am unsure whether this is a bug within modx, or perhaps its the server environment and would appreciate your feedback on this.
Thanks alot in advance.

Hello,
Could you tell us more about your environment and what snippets/plugins you have installed (autofiximagesize, phpthumbof, and gallery specifically). This sounds like an environment issue to me.
Hello
The server has the following spec:
CLOUDLINUX 5.8 x86_64 standard
Total of 8 Processors @ 2.27 GHz each
Snippets use throughout all of the old and new sites are:
archivist
breadcrumbs
databackup
formit
getcache
getfeed
getpage
getresources
googlesitemap
mchimpx
redirector
simplesearch
wayfinder

Hello,
The only thing that comes to mind based on that list would be an uncached wayfinder call [[!Way... vs [[Way... otherwise you shouldn't be having any performance issues.
I have seen some reports of CloudLinux based hosting having issues with MODX, so you may want to try running the site on another host to see if the problem persists. If you want I can set you up on one of our servers, which are well tested for MODX sites.
Thanks for the reply.
Sure, but the CPU problem, still occurs as I login into the manager, I dont think there are any wayfinder calls there? I will test the wayfinder cache to see how much improvement I will get out of it.
Testing another domain on a new host, which apparently is optimised for modx, will post results soon.
Thank you

Glad I could help some. Please let us know if you have the same issue with the other host.
