    Hey guys,

I'm having a problem with a client's site. The form works fine, but it refuses to listen to the &emailTo field. It's still sending to the original email address I used to test it. I've tried removing and adding the ! from the call, flushing the cache etc and nothing has worked so far.

My Formit call looks like this:

    [[!FormIt?
       &hooks=`email,redirect`
       &emailTpl=`detailed-enquiry-email-chunk`
       &emailTo=`[email protected]`
&emailSubject=`New Detailed Enquiry From MAGTEC Website`
       &redirectTo=`9`
    ]]

Try clearing all the files in the core/cache folder instead of using the manager clear cache.

No that didn't do it either. I've just been forwarding enquiries to my client every time he gets one. Not ideal so if you have any other suggestions I'd be glad to hear them.

          Thanks

What happens when you place this formIt call into another test form? Meaning, create a resource for testing and paste your formIt call with the correct email, and a copy of the form itself. Test the new form. Where does it send to?

The only reason I can see that it would be taking the other email address would be if that email address was set somewhere in the site, such as in a TV or in a chunk that's being called from the formIt snippet call.

Most typically, when MODX seems to be doing something that I specifically tell it not to do, I eventually realize that I've got some other chunk doing the doing that I forgot about. MODX doesn't do anything you don't tell it to do. It really doesn't. There's no way that I'm aware of that it can cache an email address from a formIt form and continue to use it as opposed to using the email set in the parameter without something, somewhere... telling it to do so. You may want to double check all your elements for the existence of any sources of that email address.

Do you have any form packages installed that could have your old test email set?

Just gonna take a minute out of my busy day as a bossy parent to put in my 2 cents on this.

I'd run through the basics if you haven't already. Remove and reinstall formit, make sure your install is the latest version of modx, create a new chunk for the formit call and delete the old one.

BobRay has also created many things of excellent quality from his own benevolence one of which is to help with troubleshooting email issues:

              http://modx.com/extras/package/quickemail

Tutorial on how to use it:

              http://bobsguides.com/quickemail-snippet-tutorial.html

Not my style to be presumptuous, that comes from being an overbearing parent as well, but have you tried adding in more emails to the formit call just to see if it will send to others? Just list a comma separated group a like 3 to see what happens.

Let us know if any of this was helpful! [ed. note: eric.swd last edited this post 13 years, 10 months ago.]

Ya I know its fun being a parent. But sometimes I act like I'm everyone elses! Comes with the territory I guess but doesn't mean it's a good quality.

I realize I'm late to the party... but, check your spam folder. I was recently working with a form and I SWORE that it wasn't sending, just come to find that it was hitting my spam folder.
