Hi Guys,
I need some help please...
I've been using modx evo and revo for 4 years now on numerous sites and develop almost exclusively on the platform.
however I've just finished a site for a client and they're disputing payment, seemingly they contacted their old webdesigner who made disparaging remarks about Modx (something about pre 2009 code) and the site having 'numerous errors'...
now the client has gone a second 'independent' expert who has come back with this comment:
"I was told last night by my independent expert that there are errors in the code. I am told that it is built in open source called MODX. I was told that there are a lot of problems with the code and I have been advised that it would be simpler to start again and build the website in Wordpress."
now I've checked my html with the W3C validator (it validates) and as far as I can't find any 'coding errors', but can anyone find any validity to ANY of their claims, or is this just sour grapes?
my understanding is that open source is inherently more secure than proprietary code because of peer review
the site in question is www.lsg.co.uk
I would really appreciate some truly independent advice
thanks in advance
Gary

Sounds like your client has decided to rip you off. I've had much the same thing happen a couple of times.
Wordpress is also open source, and has certainly had a great many more security issues over the years than MODx has.

As far as MODx vs Joomla or Drupal or Wordpress or xyz, it's a matter of personal preference. But certainly no reason for disputing payment. Seeing that it's a site for lawyers, they should know better.
