I disagree that MODX is not for beginners, but I also qualify a web development beginner from a hold my hand template lover in that opinion.

I also don't think the community is unfriendly to beginners. That's simply not correct. I think beginners are given friendly responses, and when the community realizes the poster needs less MODX speak and more direct and concise process information they respond accordingly.
