Wedding site questions

Hello all,

I'm planning to build a wedding site, but have no clue if its possible with Modx, preferably Evo.

Requirements:
- homepage public, the rest password protected
- just 1 userid/password for everone
- photogallery with about 3gb of photos
- thumbnail, pop up image and link to download original photo


- Is anonymous login possible with Weblogin?
- Can Evo handle a gallery with 3gb of photos?
- Can MaxiGallery do the job including a link to downoad original photo of each thumbail?

Any ideas how to set this up?

The short answer, yes. The entire site is possible with MODX Evolution or Revolution.

- In regards to your specific questions, you can't do anonymous login that I am aware. It's either password protected or not, unless you are just restricting specific aspects (say downloading the original photo), which is another matter.

- The better question is can your server handle 3GB of photos? Evo is limited by your server typically.

- I wouldn't use MaxiGallery as it's a bit dated. I would use Easy 2 Gallery instead. Providing a direct link to the original photo should be very possible as well.

How big the photos are is unlikely to be relevant - technically speaking the photos themselves are not going to be within the database, its their URLs/filepaths that are stored.

I wouldn't be put off using Maxigallery if it does all that you want.

So i will use Evo as my account has 7,5GB space and 100GB traffice.

Probably will use MaxiGallery anyway.

And for security will use .htaccess for entire site. Are multiple logins at the same time possible then?

I would recommend weblogin over htaccess, as you have better control over the security, but either will work and support multiple users. The .htaccess method, you must add every user manually.

Guess i wasn't clear. I meant i want just one userid, which will be used by more than one people, will more than one people be able to login using this single id at the same time?

If you went with Revo, you could use PageLocker and just password the resources, no?

edit: I see a resource group is required. Will users not want to go through the registration process to gain access?

Either WebLogin, WebLoginPE or .htaccess password-protection will allow multiple users to log in at the same time using the same username/password combination.

This is 'security-lite' though. Ideal if you'd merely rather not have every Tom, D_ick (*) and Harry looking, but not ideal if you need privacy.
