I have MODx installed on a server with SAFE MODE on, the hoster doesn’t allow to turn SAFE MODE off.
Is there a way to get the uploading of images with MODx possible without turning of SAFE MODE? For example, MaxiGallery can use FTP functions to workaround the SAFE MODE problem. Can MODx do the same?

My server has safe mode enabled (I wouldn’t be very confident to use a script which requires Safe mode off or a host which Safe Mode Off for that matter...) and I never had a MODx related problem... Image uploading works for me.
What exactly is the problem ?
Do you have an error message handy ?
What’s your server environnement (PHP version) ?

I found out that I can upload images, but that I can’t upload to directory I made with MODx. I can upload to a directory if I get on FTP and make the directory there and then get back to MODx.
So I checked what was the difference between the MODx and the FTP created directory. The difference is the owner of the directory.
a MODx created directory has "apache" as owner and a FTP created directory has "jcivolckerack" as owner. So I need to get MODx to create a folder that has "jcivolckerack" as owner. Or does my hoster have to change some settings to allow MODx to upload a image to a folder owned by "apache"??
The php version is 4.4.2

I think I had a similar issue once which I solved by doing a CHOWN on the directories after creating them. Else you’ll have to create directories beforehand with FTP and then upload via MCPUK (FCK resources manager).
I am no server admin or dev though, thus I can’t offer a solution to fix MCPUK or the default ownership of files...
