Hello, this may sound like a stupid question, but what did I do wrong? I just upgraded ModX from 0.9.5 to 0.9.6 and I did not, repeat, did not check the INSTALL SAMPLE SITE checkbox, but my document tree populated with the sample install. All of my database information is there except for one Template. Can anyone tell me what might have happened. I followed the first set of upgrade instructions in the WIKI word for word. Please help, I have no Idea what happened and I’m not entirely certain that my document tree can’t be resurrected.
Thanks
OK, I have a backup of all the files for the site, but I’m not sure why I can’t get it to work. I tried replacing my files, but still, my document tree is showing the default install files. All my files are there, all the data is there it seems, but my menu system is non-existent. How do I restore a backup?

Restoring a backup is pretty much up to how you made it and what kind of access you have to the MySQL server. Did you not explicitly create a backup of the database and an archive of the files before uploading the new files and running the upgrade script?
As for what you did wrong, it’s impossible to know without a lot more detail on what you did and in what environment. I know someone reported that checking the various optional components was installing the wrong resources, but I do not believe anyone has reported a problem with the upgrade script overwriting their document tree if they did not check the INSTALL SAMPLE SITE option. I’ve run many upgrades of production sites myself, and certainly never experienced that behavior.
Thanks for the response. I don’t know what could have caused it either. From the beginning I was fearful of upgrading for that very reason. I know for a fact that I did not check that box. It’s unchecked by default and I never touched it. As I agreed to the terms and clicked the install button I had an error the config file wasn’t accessible so I changed the permissions and hit retry. Unless it happened in that instance I don’t know where it could have happened. The rest of the install went off without a hitch. Is there any hope of regaining my doc tree? Thanks.

The document tree has nothing to do with the files, it’s the database. If you did backup the database, you’ll need to restore the database as well as the files to roll back to the original installation.
Thank you Sottwell. I’m not sure what server problems I’m having, but there are definitely issues and it appears that it may be the server. I finally got the doctree to appear, thankfully I didn’t lose any information. I’m still having issues with FF not showing any of the stylesheets, but I’m not sure if this problem is connected. I will keep on it, so if anyone has any idea as to why FF might not show styles and if it’s related to any service issues.
Thanks,
