Hi all,
after a successful local setup of modx-2.2.5-pl (traditional) I ran into some problems with the Dashboard.
Environment details:
Win 7 Home Premium SP1
Local server (xampp)
mysql 5.1.41
php 5.3.1
The setup was done on a PC without internet connection.
So launching the manager rises several Warnings referring to the RSS feed widgets of the dashboard. The solution should be easy: Just remove the RSS widgets from the dashboard.
What I did:
In Dashboard > Dashboards right click to Default and choose Duplicate Dashboard.
Right click the duplicate and choose Update Dashboard, change the Name.
Right click on MODX News Feed and Remove Widget from Dashboard.
Same with MODX Security Feed.
Save the modified Dashboard.
Now the question: How to apply the new Dashboard to the Manager?
The rtfm pages on the Dashboard give no hint at all.

Hi ottogal,
You can assign dashboards per modUserGroup. So go to Security > Access control, on the User Group tab update the group you are in (maybe Administrator), then on the General information tab you would be able to pick the desired dashboard.
All users having this group as primary group will see this dashboard.

There are System Settings to turn off the feeds (put 'feed' in the search box in System -> System Settings).

It works in both ways. I'm sure now that I used the second one already a while ago.
But, my poor memory aside: What is a newcomer supposed to do when he faces that situation?
Having just done one first step, as second step he needs to ask in the forum?
I agree. I wrote a little utility snippet that turns off those feeds and sets some other defaults for me, but it can be awkward for new users. The Manager should probably do a better job of responding to failure to get the feeds.
