I was looking over the Google Apps program (which recently opened up a non profit package) and was pondering the API integration setup. A few companies have created software to help integrate the Google Apps with office operations. http://www.google.com/enterprise/gallery/apps/admin.html

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else had given thought to what might be possible and the various ways to create deep integration into MODx, or more specificly into the users intranet or internet site.

To further comment on a subject.

I was recently watching a couple of Google Apps videos.

It would be nice if we could someday syncronize or create various user accounts and even group managment between MODx and Google Apps. I’m not sure how extensively the Google API will allow for this kind of integration, but they were talking about a few things in the videos with schools setting up bridge systems between their registration software and Google Apps. I imagine some really cool stuff can be accomplished.

I was writing an idea about redirecting the MODx user information and authentication portion of the database in this thread...

I realize it is currently possible to embed a Google Calendar into a MODx web page and hide/show the page to the appropriate users. But you have to setup multiple pages to see multiple calendars. It would be nice to have a MODx calendar that could pull data from multiple Google Calendars based on what WebUserGroups a person was a part of and let you turn them on or off like the way you can in the actual Google Calendar interface. That way a site would only need one actual calendar page for all users.

I haven’t used it, but the Google Events snippet looks like what you want (or at least a start):

I have a similar question to this actually...More about the email though.

Would it be possible that when someone registers, that it could set up an email account with the google apps account? I’m trying to design an infrastructure for my youth group, and that was one of the communications ideas I had for it.
