Running MODX 2.2.4pl, PHP 5.2.9, MySQL 5.0.95, eaccelerator off, etc.
I clean installed Revo in a development directory (/_dev) to migrate from Evo. I got everything transferred and working. This morning I archived Evo and moved Revo to the root directory and re-ran Setup. I've done this literally dozens of times before, so I know all the pitfalls. I followed all the procedures to a "T", and the public site as well as the manager work just fine, except for one problem: I get a Syntax Error message box after trying to edit any System Setting.
When I edit a setting, and press "enter" to save my changes, a Manager dialog box comes up that says "Syntax Error: " and then attempts to load my public site's 404 page in the dialog box. This causes all the Javascript in the Manager to break and I have to refresh the page to get it working again.
I've tried:
Clearing ALL cache, including site cache, browser cache and cookies.
Setting js_compress to 0.
Making sure all paths are correct in config.core and .htaccess files.
Making sure all file permissions are correct.
So my gut instinct tells me there is still a bad path setting somewhere that I'm missing. Like I said, as far as I can tell, everything else in the Manager works just fine. The config.cache.php file builds correctly when deleted, I just can't edit system settings from the Manager now.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance.

It appears this was related to mod_security. I had to ask my server admin to disable it completely as sub-accounts do not have permissions to set it via .htaccess. Once it was turned off, System Settings started saving as normal again.
However, has there been any progress or research as to why the manager is triggering mod_security? It doesn't seem wise (nor practical) to simply turn this off because there is one part of the manager that doesn't work correctly.
