I am trying to rerun setup in order to launch a site however the radio button for "Upgrade" is grayed out thus making it not selectable.

I transferred the files using PuTTY to zip the files and then unzip them on the new server. I uploaded the proper setup folder but kept getting permissions issues with Smarty. I was told to reupload the core which I did and that took care of the smarty issue and setup is now working.

    Core/config/config.inc.php is writable.

What do I need to do to make the Upgrade radio button clickable?

By 'the files' do you mean the standard modx installer, or the source from your dev site?

Well I am going to try reuploading all my staging site files to rule out anything on the transfer.

Since the database is already imported, I should just be able to run setup without changing anything else aside.

If upgrade is not enabled, it can't find the config file so isn't aware it's an existing site that can be upgraded. Make sure the config file is there and contains stuff.

Also make sure MODX_CORE_PATH in setup/includes/config.core.php points to the core directory. If you had moved or renamed core, this could be the problem.

              Thanks everyone.

The problem was not technically solved but here is the workaround I did.

Instead of zipping the sites contents I manually download the whole test site and manually uploaded it to the live server.

After that I followed the steps for launching a site and it all worked.

I find if MODX doesn't behave properly the best thing to do is not to troubleshoot it but start over.

                Eric,

I bet there was something foofy in the unzip. In any event. Glad you have it sorta sorted.

                Cheers,
