I want to specify that, for one particular document, all new child documents that are created in future should use a certain template.

I am aware of the ’Inherit Parent Template’ plugin, but I don’t think it is suited for my current needs as I want the children documents to use a different tempalte from the parent.

    To explain further ...

I have a parent document called ’News’. Inside this are many child documents, one for each news story. I want to specify that each new news story I add should, by default, use the specific template I created for news stories. (The parent, called ’News’ uses a different template)

    All help appreciated.

    Kind regards

You could try to add a dummy parent between the ’news’ page and its children. Set the dummy not to show in the menu, and set wayfinder to only show its children.
      - edit - And of course set the dummy to use the template you want to use for the news items
