I’m just changing something on an old system with MODx 0.9.2.2 and it’s blazing fast! Compare this to 0.9.6, which is almost unusable. :-(
I (and probably many others) would have testified to the opposite, but more details such as server environment and browser would help understand what exactly makes 0.9.2 faster than 0.9.6...

I would also testify to the opposite experience. In fact I purposely upgraded a site recently just because the manager was loading too slow and making me mad. On the same machine, the initial manager page load went from like 30+ seconds down to 2 seconds max. Are there specific actions you are taking in the manager where you experience this slow down compared to your 0.9.2.2 install? And are these deployments on the same server?
Oh, sh...!
You are right. I’ve now tested it at home on my Mac instead of the Windows box at work. Firefox 2. And yes, it’s fast.
I’ll try to deactivate some extensions on Monday at work. I only tried it without Firebug, because it is known to slow down JavaScript stuff a little bit. But that wasn’t enough.
I’ve deactivated a plugin I have only installed at work (on the Windows box).
Now everything is a lot faster.
The bad plugin: Live PageRank
I guess this plugin isn’t made for the Ajax world. Maybe it tries to check every connection.
