    Hello,

I've been struggling with the appearance of context settings and the truth that once you've saved them you can't edit every setting in it except going into the DB and editing them manually.

Once you've saved the setting you can only change the value, the name, description, area, etc will be unable to change.

How about an improvement or fix for this so that you could "update" all values instead of "deleting" the setting to adjust your change? Would make sense and help save time for many MODx backend users.

    Thanks.

Right-click on the Setting and click Update Setting.

Almost everything in the Revo Manager has some kind of right-click context menu; it's worth clicking around to see what happens wink

        As I said:

You can only change the value of the context setting, the context setting name, description etc remains untouchable. [ed. note: bowkilled last edited this post 14 years, 1 month ago.]

In my experience, you can't change the name, description, or area of a Context Setting that shares the same key as an already made System Setting. You can change Context Settings that are not defined by other objects (System, Context and possible User).

System Settings don't have fields in the table for the name or description. I haven't looked at the code, but I think what happens is that when you save the setting, MODX creates Lexicon entries for the name and description based on the key.

The same name and description are used for System, Context, and User settings with the same key. So changing the name and/or description for a Context Setting would also change those for any User or System Settings (and vice versa). You can change them in System->Lexicon Management (if you can find them wink ).

                That's correct. They are setting_keyname, and setting_keyname_desc.

Yes, and in System -> Lexicon Management, they are in Namespace:core, Topic:setting for built-in Settings.
