I copied the site from the main domain to a subdomain to do some development & testing for an SSO package [so users MUST be able to log in] but for some reason web users cannot log in, the manager users can log into the manager, but no one can log into the web context.
- changed all the paths in config
- connecting to a different database
- cleared all cache cookies etc.
- web users CAN log into the live site
- nothing in the modx logs
- no errors are output to the login forms
Not sure what/where to look at now.. any ideas?

Do you have session_cookie_domain set in your system or context settings?
I found it actually.
It was a prehook in the login snippet that was failing & not returning anything useful.
