I have seen a few posts about this - 1 specifically had the same issue but I don't think the user ever came back with a solution.

I am trying to modify the quip createdon output.

    This is my markup:
    <div class="date">[[+createdon]]</div>

If I use something like this:
    <div class="date">[[+createdon:strtotime:date=`%Y]]</div>

The date does not render at all.

    If I use this:
    <div class="date">[[*createdon:strtotime:date=`%b %d, %Y]]</div>

The date will render, but it shows me the createdon date of the post, not the date of the comment.

    Any suggestions?

      Nevermind. smiley

      It is indeed this:
      <div class="date">[[+createdon]]</div>

Then within the manager, edit the resource that is the blog and under "Comments" you can easily change the format.

I was making that WAY harder than it needed.

Actually, the first method you pointed out would be preferable in my case.

I several Articles containers and changing the settings one by one is... well, boring

The trouble it with Articles and settings is that you can't seem to set the defaults anywhere (apart from templates).
