I am new to MODx and the resource who originally developed our web site is no longer available. I am trying to add security and we are following the Making Member Only Pages tutorial. When we get to Step 4 - Add Resource Group Access, no access policies are displayed in the selection box. When I go further into the Security Configuration (outside the tutorial), no default access policies or policy templates can be seen from the Security => Access Controls manager page. I have attached screen shots to show the details. I hope I don't have to re-install MODx and reconfigure everything again to get it to work. Troubleshooting tips would be appreciated.

    MODX version: MODX Revolution 2.0.7-pl

    Database charset: UTF-8
    Database name: osprgcom_modxsite
    PHP version: 5.2.6
    System: Windows NT Windows7 5.2 build 3790

The first thing to try is to log out, manually delete all the files in the core/cache directory, then clear your browser cache and cookies before logging back in.

Do you know whether those things were there to begin with? You could just have a corrupted or missing file, especially if you transferred the files individually with FTP.

I do not know if the Access Policies and Templates were available before. When you mention manually delete all the files in the core/cache director, you are talking about on the web server, correct (/httpdocs/core/cache)? Would it be all the files including the sub-folders? I have already cleared the cache from the manager menu, Site => Clear Cache, I guess this is to force it to clear the cache.

This is a running site and may take me a while to back-up and then do the manually delete the cache. Will let you know the status
