I have never worked with Modx before and I am really struggling to get the site to work after we moved the server. There are so many config files in various folders it all seems a bit chaotic when you see this the very first time. I have changed files in core as well as in manager but still no luck. I double checked folders and path in the config files.

I just get a white page. I activated PHP error logging in my php.ini, added error reporting to the index.php but I just get a white page.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

This is an oft visited topic as a search would probably reveal.

You give us no details as to which version of Modx... any extras... whether it was working properly before the move... what you did to try to move it... and so on - so it will be hard to know where to start to give help.

I will say that the easiest and most successful moves do not involve editing those config files.

And that it would be probably easier and quicker for you to start over with the move - try following this link (if you are using revo) http://rtfm.modx.com/display/revolution20/Moving+Your+Site+to+a+New+Server

or do a google search "move modx server"

Did you run Setup after moving the site, and if so, how did it go?

I looked at that document as well. But it seems very outdated as the example config is not what I have on my system so i ignored the entire document.

I read about running SETUP as well but there is not folder or file with that name.

I have managed to get the domain.com/manager part to work now.
But the front page still only shows a white page.

My version is MODX Revolution 2.2.4-pl (traditional)

I have been asked to move Modx to another server and its the first time I have seen this system. I cannot give any info about any extras or plugins or anything really. The system still works on the original server.

Can you look in the modx_site_content table in the DB and see if the pages are actually there?

While you're in the DB, find the modx_system_settings table and change the settings for compress_js and compress_css from 1 to 0.

Then delete all files in the core/cache directory and clear your browser cache and cookies before logging in.

There's also more info here: http://bobsguides.com/modx-troubleshooting.html

I managed to get it to work, I just reinstalled modx and all is good now. Must have been a broken FTP upload.

                    Thanks everybody for your help.

I guess it bears mentioning again that uploading, or obtaining directly (using ssh access) the zipped MODX and then unzipping on the server (if possible) is quicker and in my experience much more reliable than ftp.
