I’m sorry if this is already been answered... i searched but there were so many results for "install" and "php" that i got tired of looking after 15 mins.

    OpenSUSE 10.2
    Apache 2
    mySQL 5.0.26
    PHP 5

I had modx 9.6 installed on my Linux system and it worked fine. Then I realized i didn’t have some other installs i needed as a part of LAMP (like some PHP and mySQL stuff). When installing some of the PHP 5 packages it stated to make sure you didn’t have any websites installed/created on the server before install. So i uninstalled modx - which i couldn’t figure out how and then read somewhere that you just delete the modx files off the server (not sure if this is correct).

(the reason i had to install the packages was for ISPConfig... which installed successfully, however, I have not been able to get to the control panel for it.. maybe this is part of the problem)

Ok, so then after i got all the LAMP packages installed that i missed, i attempted to reinstall modx. Once i got all the install files ready and attempted to run the install (192.168.1.99 and 192.168.1.99/install) in firefox it just shows the php code...in IE it tries to download the php file.

My guess is that it has something to do with the PHP settings on my Linux server... something that got set after i installed the php packages for ISPConfig. Please help if can.. i’m out of ideas. Thanks.

I would suggest getting support from ISPConfig regarding how to properly configure PHP with Apache. Then you can worry about MODx. Sounds like PHP simply is not properly configured in Apache, but this will be specific to your ISPConfig installation. Good luck.
