Hi,
I have been running into an issue in which the core/cache folder's contents are not the correct permissions. This keeps me from manually clearing the cache.
It seems that any files written by php belong to the Apache ownership, not that of the FTP account I utilize for access. I tried adding the "new_file_permissions" and "new_folder_permissions" settings to the menu, but it doesn't change anything. My server tech can't figure it out either, but this is the first modx install at their company. I really need help on this or I am stuck with a shell script changing permissions every 15 minutes and that is just not ideal. At least that is what the server tech can figure out.
This issue has been posted before on the forums but as of yet, no one has found a solution... I REALY need help so any you guys can give would be appreciated.

In this situation, have your user made a member of the Apache user's group, and the Apache user made a member of your group. Then set your user and the Apache user's default file permissions to be 775 and 664 (umask). You will also need to set a preference in your FTP client to upload files with these permissions.
Or get your server tech to configure Apache to run PHP with suexec so that the .php script files are always run as their owner rather than the Apache user.
