Ok, so when you bring up the resource browser after say selecting the ’insert image’ button, how can I adjust the settings to allow a user to browse other directories? For example, if someone is inserting a link, they hit the browse button, they are forced into the ’files’ directory and have no access to other resource directories like the images folder. Is there a way to set the resource browser to have access to certain if not all directories under ’assets?’ -or- will symbolic links work? This is installed on a unix platform btw.

Reason I ask, one of our sites under modx, the client often links to uploaded images. Right now, there is no easy way for the client to browse and link to an image they have uploaded. They have to manually type in the url to the image . . which for non-savvy users isn’t very easy.

    Thanks in advance!
    Michael

You can adjust these paths either globally with the MODx Configuration menu, or on a user-by-user basis in the "User" tab of the manager user admin page.

This I know. However, what I’m speaking of is the fact that a user who wants to insert a link to an image, they can’t browse into the images directory. Example, user wants to link some text to an image, select the text, click the ’insert link’ button, window pops up, select the ’browse’ button next to the url input field – the user then only has access to the ’files’ directory and can’t browse other folders. Since there is a directory tree and drop menu that appears in the upper left, the expectation is that they should be able to – but can’t or the base install doesn’t allow it.

I tried creating a symbolic link within the files directory out to the images directory but that didn’t work either. It just refreshed the files directory and went nowhere.
