Yesterday the Files folder in Assets on a ModX 1.0.6 install went bad. Not sure what caused it, but my client was trying to upload a 4 mb pdf file and the file limit was set to 1 mb. He tried several times until he asked me and I did change the limit to 5 mb. However, after changing it, whenever we highlighted a link and tried to get to the Files directory, the upload area was blank. There were about 12 other pdf's in there. I went to hosting control panel and was able to access the File directory where I saw a bunch of no named PDF files and several version of the file he was trying to upload. I went to delete them and got a message that the directory could not be read. Then it just disappeared. Gone. Nowhere to be found.
So, I created a new Files directory thinking ModX would just find it when I logged back in. No luck.
I really need a directory where my client can add his brochures. Is there a way to change where Modx is looking for the Files? I looked everywhere in the Configuration Tab and didn't see anything. I also looked at the TinyMCE snippet to see if it was called there.
Any help would be appreciated. I need to be able to upload files.

Sounds like somehow the permissions were changed to something you don't have read access to. If this is a shared hosting (1mb file limit sure sounds like one!
) you may be able of asking the host if it's still there.
The location is relative to the assets / media url path stored in the configuration, and /files/ gets added to that for documents and the likes. The files bit of the url is, unfortunately, hard-coded in Evolution.

Ahhh... so no way to change it.
Well, I created a new directory called files in assets. I got no message that the directory already exists, etc. So, I was hoping ModX would just find the new directory, in the same place, with the same name. I guess that isn't going to happen. I'll check with the host and see if we can see the directory on their end.
Any other thoughts to try?

Really sounds like a permissions problem to me. If the folder exists and is readable and writable for PHP, it should be fine. I'm way too rusty on Evo skills nowadays to really offer much of advise much beyond that.. could create an assets2 and point MODX there..

Hi All,
Well, it seems to be fixed. Looks like it just took some time for ModX to recognize the new files folder and all is well. I did clear the cache from within the app, but it seemed to need time for the server itself to refresh. I don't know, unfortunately I'm often a bit technologically challenged.
