news archiving in evo: showing unpublished pages to non logged in users

Hello,

I am wondering how best to get news archiving working in an evo site.

I have a news system setup using pages in the resource tree and ditto calls with category filters to pull data into the various news menus based on news category.

I am using publish date to sort the order of news items - and was hoping to use unpublish date to specify inclusion into the news archive (eg upublished news items added automatically to the news archive, and sorted by their original publish date).

The archive works great when logged into the manager - but how can I get the unpublished news pages showing in the front end for general website visitors?

A more manual approach would be to indivdually edit news items and click an archive category but I would love it to be based automatically on unpublish date.

I should say that I can see list of unpublished docs in the ditto archive summary when not logged in, but when clicking on a link to one of the archived items, the error page is returned (because the page is unpublished).

Any ideas?

Use a date-type TV instead.

Do you mean a date-type TV for the unpublish date?

I was originally using a date-type tv as the "publish date" but when left empty this returned a PHx error on the page and to avoid this I elected to run with pub_date for the publish date - as the various users technical abilities vary and the PHx error may confuse them.

Is there a way to "automatically" add items to a ditto archive in Evo that are say older than 2 months without having to create a new date-type TV for the unpublish date?

(If a manual TV is required for unpublishing I would more likely make an "add to archive" checkbox instead).
